Vented gas logs burn with the chimney damper open. They give the biggest, most realistic flames but put out less heat. Vent-free (unvented) logs burn cleaner so the damper can stay closed, which keeps more heat in the room, but the flames are smaller and less wood-like. The right choice depends on your fireplace and whether you want looks or heat — we'll help you sort it out.
